84 300D 3/2 valve question

84 300D (303,000 miles and still chugging!)

hope someone can help my confusion. i've been following the
EGR plate kit thread and naturally started poking around a bit for
more info.

if one were to block the egr, does that totally eliminate the
need for the 3/2 valve connections on a 300D? i've seen discussions on SD's that perhaps it does, but from the vacuum diagrams on an 84 300D i've seen and the CD manual, it seems to also have connection from the vacuum pump side of things related to the tranny and idle speed -- or am i totally off base here? but then in looking at gsxr's photos of his '84, it looks like everything's disconnected (pre-wreck that is), thus my confusion.

thanks for any and all replies.

thanks, 84300DT.

i guess i'm more concerned about any effect it will have on transmission performance from a vacuum perspective, or is
the transmission control simply the fact that the bowden cable is attached to the linkage right there?

guess i'll just have to give it a try and see what happens.

yeah i was too. my 3/2 valve was shot for a long time and didn't seem to be doing anything. i put in new plastic 'ears' and it made no difference at all to shifting.
why not try blocking it all off with a golf tee to see what happens?

Assuming it's as my 83 is.. Yank it, it's EGR only. Trans vac modulated through the bleed valve on the injection pump. Just make sure the circuit is tight and bleed valve is seeing the correct amount of vacuum.
