Has anyone heard anything about or dealt with this company? They have the MB manuals on CD for $39. The price almost seems too good compared to others I've found.

It's pretty clear they burned a copy of the factory manual CD's, and they're selling them illegally (like most of the ones you see on ebay). $39 isn't a bad price when your marginal cost is 2 blank CD's for 25 cents apiece.

Are all of the CD's the same factory manuals or are there other manuals on CD also? I have been using the online copy at skinnerbox.

I got a ripoff version on eBay (~$12) and later found the one on skinnerbox (linked to at my site).

If I buy a rip-off from eBay, will it be the factory manual? Are some of the eBay CD's some other manual like chilton or haynes?

There was one CD manual on eBay which isn't the factory but I don't think it was Haynes or Chiltons either.

Chilton and Haynes aren't available on CD. If you buy a CD, it'll be a ripoff of the factory manuals. As a digital copy, it should be identical to the original.

Be alert as to what operating system they require.

Woudl anybody know if skinnerbox has a page for the W126 85 300SD version???

I've wondered that before but have never seen it for the W126 or really anything other than the W123. Peyton300TD was actually the one who told me about this one.

It would be worth it to buy the disk just to avoid wearing-out skinnerbox on bandwidth. I am saving the files I view on skinnnerbox. The index is simple html and I create directories as I download files. It is coded to work local just like over the net. This way I only access the files once on skinnerbox.

I haven't seen the 126 manual anywhere on the net. I have been eyeballing some local S-Class hardware and may be looking for a manual myself pretty soon.

A skinner box is the generic name for a construction designed to control variables available to the subject of psychological test or training activity.
The origin is the famous B.F. Skinner commonly credited with being the father of Behavior Modification. He was the major change from Freud in that he applied scientific observation and objective quantification ( read counting) to behavior analysis and training.
" skinner box " at one time had a negative connotation because Skinner made one for his daughter.... and people thought " scientist gone wild"... but the truth was that his daughter , as in infant, was very sensitive to temperature changes... and he built a temperature controlled crib for her... for the record she turned out just fine...
The purpose of a skinner box in training has to do with the speed at which rewards need to be provided to animals in order for them to associate pleasure with the behavior which one wants to teach... this time frame is typically less than one second... and if not timely the subject can be rewarded for spurious accidental behavior which simply happened at the time the reward arrived... For training purposes the reward needs to be applied each time the organism repeats the behavior... but to maximize the time which an animal will repeat the behavior Without being rewarded then one should change to a " variable rate schedule of reinforcment" ... the most common and powerful example of which is Gambling... even when you lose you keep thinking " next time"... and keep doing it....
I have no idea why the owner of this site used this word.

I bit the bullet today and bought a set of printed manuals. Now I can spend some quality time with them without having to turn on the computer. This further sets in stone my continuing relationship with the W123 diesels.:D

I actually grabbed the entirety of the skinnerbox site over the course of a couple of weeks (throttled downloads on a 56k modem suck). However, skinnerbox is actually missing some of the files.

I bought a FixITCDs copy. Aside from them 'missing' my order and never responding to my emails I'm quite happy with the product I finally got.

(It took a refund request through paypal before I got a quick apology for not sending my order and a prompt overnight shipment.)
