The gearbox isn't quite up there with the rest of the car though. At least not yet. After dropping one already, he had installed a 300D gearbox. A tip from the journalist immediately makes him call a friend who has a spare BMW M3 six speed gearbox. After a few quick measurings he discovers that it fits and voila, he's got himself an M3 gearbox!
Thought the note about swapping a M3 6 speed mated to the Cosworth was interesting. Does this get anyone's wheels turning on possiblities with OM60x motors? I wonder what kind of bellhousing he used to get the BMW tranny and MB motor mated?

As long as the proposed transmission has a removable bellhousing, and the motor you want to attach it to had a tranny with a removable bellhousing, it is relatively easy to mate the new tranny to the old bellhousing with an adaptor and/or some machining. I am working on a similar swap currently. It's about #308 on my list of things to do. :(

Yeah, I seem to make my list longer, instead of making it shorter. Just thought I would throw out a link incase someone was looking for ideas.

Always a good thing. I know I'm constantly looking for new ideas.
