makes me chest hurt.

I stopped off at the local all mercedes junk yard TRI-STAR PETE'S today and found out they have sold it. there was over 500 mercedes in the yard reduced to about 100 because tempe forced pete to sell it. the yard that bought his bussiness bought 100 cars from him,(mostly 126 style) and the rest are being CRUSHED:( engine and everything else nobody has bought. the have crushed almost all of the 50's and 60's cars and almost all the 123 have been crushed and sold to a metal recycling company. i wondered the yard today looking at all of the smashed pieces and wondering what it would be like to own all of those. now i have to find a new place for parts. DAMN IT!!!!
i just thought i would share this with all of you.

I heard he was moving over by 19th Ave and Broadway, somewhere in that area. It costs too much to move all the stuff. The city of tempe is expanding and they really wanted the property. At least that's what I heard. Yeah he did have a lot of really old cars. You should go down and buy what you need for cheap.

he sold it to some other company. i asked if any parts would be cheaper and one of his workers said no. i was looking at all the crushed cars that were stacked. what a shame. some of them had useable parts.

Keep in mind too that scrap steel is bringing a premium these days.

Prices of new steel have nearly doubled in the past year and a half. Just about half of US steel now made at smaller plants that are highly dependant on electricity. Most new electrical generation from natural gas.... I guess somebodies weed is another's flower. I have so much fun in junkyards that some people "remind" me to bring a sleeping bag. And they're going to get smaller sooner than later.

that sounds like me. i wish i had brought my camera the time before last to take pics of all the cars.
