W116 Window Motor/Regulator Removal.
I've used the search feature and consulted the factory MB service manual regarding removal of the window motor and regulator for the passenger's side front door of my 1980 300 SD (W116). However, I thought I'd consult the experts here before drilling the 20mm holes in the door structure as described in the FSM.
My question is - Is there a way to remove the motor and regulator from the front doors of a 116 car without drilling these holes and unbolting the regulator from the motor? I have tried doing this on a parts car, and I got the assembly out intact, but I ruined the front glass "channel" getting the assembly out. (not a problem for the parts car, but I don't want to do the same thing to my driver). Any practical advice / experience would be appreciated. I would prefer not to drill any holes in the door frame if it isn't necessary. Thanks, Steve M. |
not as far as I know. I've always used a drill

Use the search. The info you're looking for is here somewhere. I found it that way when I had to do the front windows on my W116.
Rear door window regulators come out easy. No drilling required. |
