1995 E300d
I recently purchased a 1995 E300D. Do these cars require valve adjustments as frequently as my 1980 240D (approx 15K)? I'm familiar with the needs and quirks of the 240D, but not so familiar with the newer diesels. I plan on keeping this car for a long time and want to make sure I don't overlook something. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My '91 300D 2.5T has self-adjusting valves. I presume your E300 does, too. Check your owners manual for service intervals.

No valve adjustments on that baby. Drive and enjoy.

The hydraulic lifters are happier with synthetic oil... Mobil-1 15W-50 (red cap), or the new 5W-40 'SUV' formula (yellow cap) are the preferred viscosities. If you use these, skip the 3000 mile change interval and bump out to 5000 or 7500, which offsets the cost a little. I use the 5W-40 in all my cars now.
