How to cross reference parts?
How do I cross reference to find parts from other years and models that will work on my car? My rear axle snapped in two the other day, and I'm having trouble finding ones for a 87 300d.
Is that what the star tek epc thing is for. I had the free membership last year, but its up now. I've found axles for the w126 300sdl. I'd assume those don't work. I can find tons for the w123, but I can tell by the pics, those are different. Finally, I found one from a 91 300e, where the seller claims it will fit my 300d, but I'd like a way of confirming it for myself.

Answer:
300D Turbo ( Engine:603.960 Chassis:124.133 )
FastLane: Axle Assembly Rear without ASD or ASR ASD refers to Automatic Locking Differential (limited slip) ASR refers to Acceleration Skid Control http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=K4000-161938 Note: the 1986-1992 300E axle is the same part number. Have a great day.
