G'day from down under...

Greetings Forumites!

Melbourne, Victoria AU
July 3, 2004

Just starting our 3rd week away from home and I was having a bad case of Forum withdrawl.

Not many diesel 123s down here in Melbourne or Sydney but there are more different MBZ delivery van types than you can shake an old glow plug at...I've caught a few pictures of some of them. Will post when I get back home.

Have only seen three 123 wagons since arriving and couldn't tell if they were diesels or gassers.

Gotta run; will check in on return to the 'States'

Cheers!

Drat

If I had known, I have friends down there who own MB diesels.
Ah well, perhaps next time.
Have a good trip.

Down under in a different place now...Wellington, New Zealand. Not many Mercedes here in Kiwi land...lots of diesel engines tho. But, I did see a nice 107 with the spiffy euro lights.

I tell you one thing, I am definitely getting lonesome for the bellicose yowl of an OM617 at full chat.

Later,
R

Would like to see a nice W123 "ute"!

...the Oz folk-transport cobbled up from a sedan with the aft section cut away and replaced with a pickup bed...dog and .303 Enfield in gun rack optional.

Here's a little Sprinter-like diesel van I saw in Sydney.

I am in Auckland, New Zealand right now, and I will agree with the paucity of diesels. I have not seen one Diesel 123, all the ones I see are 280E's. We did rent a motorhome with a Sprinter chassis and a peppy 130hp 4 cylinder turbo in it. Quite a nice rig! They have tons of Benzes we don't get in the USA...like the A class, Vito van, W124 and W210 E200, W140 S280 and I saw a turbodiesel W202.
