OK who has the wagon for sale in Denver?
So after another afternoon of looking at junk SUV's the wife and I are out on the town. We are walking down the street (Tennyson, if your out there) and I'm griping. "Why can't I just find an old Benz wagon?" and then I hear a familiar sound, the clatter of five happy cylinders. And I point, and say "like that one" and as the thing rolls by there is a freaking "for sale " sign in the back window. Which of course I can't read.
And of course its not listed in the paper, here, autotrader or craigslist. So if you're out there, or know him, please respond. Last edited by koop; 07-03-2004 at 12:46 PM. |

I feel your pain. The wife and I spent months looking at every available new wagon and they all sucked or were too expensive. Then one day we spotted this 300TD parked in front of a neighbor's house, and we bought it two weeks later.
All I can say is maybe try to frequent the area where you saw the wagon. Maybe the owner lives or works in that area and will be back. You could also try buying a "wanted" ad in the local paper. One other source is the Mercedes Benz Club of America "trading post" ads: http://www.mbca.org/pages/Star/mj04tp.htm Good luck!

I can't say that was me you saw since I don't have a "for sale" sign anywhere except in my profile below here. I need to find a good 5-turbo (OM617.95x) engine to install in my 240D project first. The TD is my only car, so I must finish the project before I may hand her over. LMK if you would like to get together and look it over, I'm free all this week after 5pm and all day on the weekends. |

That is frustrating --
I think I've seen the same 300D wagon driving around Denver, and -- yeah, like you -- I was not able to get the information from the sale sign in the window. Just saw it for a moment on the highway.
Why people don't advertise their cars better, I don't know. Perhaps they don't REALLY want to sell them. By the way, Koop, on the subject of craigslist, I am STILL trying to arrange for a test drive of that 1981 300SD that we discussed -- it is getting frustrating. Talk about flaky advertisers. -- Bokonon |

I have an engine
I bought a engine for my 85 wagon, well after rebuilding the head it runs so well that I decided not to replace the engine.
The engine came out of a 1982 300CD with a 134,000 miles showing. No turbo, I believe everything else is there, if interested give me a call at 303-246-4909 Ron |
