Need euro plate advice.

I want to get a euro plate for the front of my car, I went to Germanplates.com, and saw that they had a bunch of options. What style plate is right for an 1987 car if Germany? The all white one or the one with the blue bar? Or what about the export one?

Is there a company that will print "Move Over" backwards on a plate? I want the other drivers on the highway to be able to see it.:D

Or what about:
87 300SDL
87 Diesel
Money Pit

Any ideas I'm not the most creative.:D

I've found a few authentic German Plates at junk stores in my area. I went into one with some friends that I know that were visiting from Germany, and they told me exactly what part of the country the plates were from, and what year

The first letters on the plate tell you which city the car comes from and I believe the numbers that follow tell you the region.

I grew up in a town close to the German border, me and my friends would always guess where the car came from. There is also a little round sticker on the plate that names the city.

Example : S-DR 5567

The first letter is the county (can be up to 3 letters)
After the dash 1 or 2 letters which have no meaning and then up to 4 numbers.

The two stickers above and below the dash are County seal and Inspection Stickers.

As your you '87 a white plate would be right.
The ones with the blue euro flag and counrty did not come out till around the mid 90's.

i was told by some friends from germany (BONN) that you could customize the last sector of the plate to fit you if so wished...

hence mine reads...

BF-JC230

BF - Buffalo
JC - ME
230 - the original label for the car

I do use the modern EuroPlate with the German banner, not an age correct one for my car...i also have the american plates custom stamped to match the plates, insurance and registration...

Yes you can customize the plate. If the letter number combination is not reserved you can choose the two letters and four numbers.

Used to be a real pain to get it done. I tried once to get ES-V 1
Could not get it since it was reserved for cars that needed short plates (like if you brought you US spec Benz to Germany) had to settle for ES-V 1996 (for Esslingen, Vectra 1996)

i hear that...

what i really wanted was

OP-JC230

for my home town of orchard park...

the DMV told me "NO, CAN NOT USE THAT COMBO...IT COULD BE MISREAD AS "OFFICIAL POLICE"

i laughed for a few seconds and then stopped when i realized they were serious....

Just trying to have some fun. You should try it sometime.

North Carolina will let you use symbols. I once tried to get *&$?#!
as a vanity plate but they wouldn't issue it, it had too many symbols and the DMV clerk thought that someone might be offended by it!

I guess I need to "get a life" because, just for the fun of it, I am considering buying a German tag for the front. Or perhaps I'll write to friends in Germany and have a used one sent over. When I was stationed there, Americans had to use ugly green tags issued by the US Army.

yes, in EUROPE those license have meaning. Here they are quite illegal in many states, regardless some braindead cheats and scum place them on their cars, especially the shiny MB Star, etc.
Why do I say cheats? becuz some people actually think the traffic cameras (you don't have them yet?) will catch them mid intersection as the lights change and find the foto of a ... Euro car.
Total pretentious and a great waste of $ and time. Sorry to offend anyone but maybe you need a reality check. I hate to waste time on this mess but felt it was due.
