Chrysler 300C has MB turbo diesel in Europe??

NYT this past Sunday had a nice article about the new 300C from
Chryser. The article reports that the car borrows heavily from MB
including, for Europe, the turbo diesel engine, unavailable in the US. Wel, if MB accessories incorporated in the new chrysler are like the current mb production cars stuff, the other mfgrs have nothing to worry about!! Course, I would like that mb turbo diesel!!

sure they have the tranny, the rear end, suspension technology...alot from MB, even the propeller shaft couplers (or universal joints, flex disks)...with the 300c (only hemi powered 300s are "C" models) you are getting a E Class, with an american pushrod V8

the crossfire now has the AMG sc 6 in the srt6 version...for about 40k

The only MB components in the 300C are the E class suspension and the driver adaptive automatic transmission.

If you drive much in Europe and pay attention to the American Cars there, you will notice that almost all American cars you see there are Chrysler products. Of those, the most common are Jeep products.

Have a great day,

Friend of mine in management at Chrysler St Louis told me the whole platform for the 300C was MB, including the electronic's and the stereo. Also that the Magnum shared the 300 platform and the only thing used that's not MB in the Crossfire is the standard engine, it also uses a MB platform. I thinking it was SLK 320 and yes it does have the option of the AMG supercharged engine.

I don't think that there are ANY Jeeps sold in Europe with diesel engines of any kind. Everyone I've seen over there was just a durn ol' US gas engine Jeep.

If the 300C has MB electronics in it, then I appreciate the info. I will know not to buy one. The current MB electronics and all their associated problems are the achilles heel of the current MB's.

Have a great day,

Well, I returned from Europe about a week ago. Saw several mid-'90s TD Cherokees that sounded like 4-cylinders, and a bunch of Grand Cherokees using the Benz 2.7L TD five. There. I can even prove it with a Euro car mag I got over there featuring a TD Grand Cherokee if there's any debate.

I stand corrected. I've seen lots of Jeep products in Europe, but was never around one up close that was not a gas engine.

I used to go to Europe a lot. I haven't been since early '03.

Have a great day,
