Fuel line thread size

The fuel line coming out of the bottom of my fuel tank is leaking on my '78 300SD. I am converting the car to Straight Veg Oil soon and don't want to replace it with the same type of line(probably going with Viton tubing). Does anyone know what size thread in the bottom of the tank is? I'd like to replace it with a fitting that allows me to connect my own hose. It looks like it might be standard pipe thread, but it could also be metric. Getting the right fitting before taking it apart would be helpful.
Thanks for any assistance,
Joe

If you drain thetank, you can remove that fitting (with fuel hose) and cut off the metal crimp to allow removal of the aged fuel line. You can then fit a new "Viton" fuel line to the fitting and screw it back into the tank.

Hi Tony,
thanks for the reply. I'll have to give that a try.
