Yeah, I've been pulling light rails from Mercedes at yards just for these sockets. I'll start taking them apart and solder some extra wire on for the mod and sell as two-socket kits maybe. $5 shipped would be worth buying it rather than doing it yourself and if I do a bunch at a time, it's not a great loss to me.

I think thats fair and reasonible............heck I don't even have a 123 yet and might go for that.

I need to look if that can apply to a W116 Chassis. Those lights leave a bit to be desired too.

Well I am likely to be the proud owner of either a 123 or a 126.........that is if the 126 I am looking at doesn't go too high. If it does it will likely be a 123 thats local as a daily beater/ main car. In which case I would be interested if either works.

Yes, different dims, but same config. I have some SD light bars, so I'll confirm and see if we can come up with some for you.

Tom, I'll definitely take a pair for the SDL if you do them.

I just did the brake-light mod on my 126 after following a 123 with weak lights.. I like the idea of scaring the car behind me when I hit the brakes!..

Tom,
If this will work on the 126 I would like a set.
I have a 89 300se, the extra lights would be nice. None in any of the yards around here.
Let me know if you can get any.
Thanks,

Here it is after being connected. I soldered them together, but you can use a cable splice device or cut them and splice them. I have since added a liquid rubber compond around solder joint.

Here is the new brake light's on a very sunny, hot, and humid day. :p I think it was about 102*F in the garage with 98% humidity. This mod will have no effect on cruise control.

Many thanks to Bruce Bonds for sending the old harness from which I used two bulb holder's for this mod. You're the man Bruce, now add another set of brake light's to your car.

Here's something I made a few years back for a website I had. Thought I'd dig these up for the relevant thread.

I just used running lights instead of brake lights. The cars were my neighbors 300CD and my 240D

I'd actually like to wire it up for double filament bulbs to use the open spots for both brake and park lights

I'd be interested as well if you had some made for the 126, it'd be nice to have some extra lights back there!
