I will take her apart to see what has been damaged.

Thanks again for all the info.

This adventure will be fun.

Also, the engine sat ourside in the rain for a few days and the cam has runt on it. As soon as I goe the engine back, I poured new engine oil all over it.

Question: Will the surface rust hurt the cam? I don't think the rust got any pits on it., but will have to check it out more closely later. I figure if there are pits then it is ruined, right?

Cook,

No your cam is not ruined, a little surface rust won't hurt it. But put the valve cover back before it gets too bad. You should drain any water out of the crankcase too.
