MANY thanks Larry Bible, boostnbenz and others
Being a newbee can be difficult when you do your own repairs and are unfamiliar with the vehicle. I'm a by the book man when it comes to maintenance and yes I fell for the ATF in the power steering pump. Hey at least I'm honest!! I bought this car because I can no way afford anything near new and driver comfort is important to me. So is fuel economy and the benz fit the bill. I cannot afford to take it to the shop either and it seems simple to work on. Thanks is not enough for you guys that provide us with the correct info. After being told about the search I have found everything I need to know and most of the things I searched for were answered by Larry. Boostnbenz [Jeff] has also been of great help along with countless others who, through their own trial and error, share their expierences with everyone. MANY MANY thanks you guys--and would everyone please support fastlane--this is a geart forum they provide.

This is a great forum. I think the real thanks go to Bill and Donnie who started this forum about five years ago. They set the "personality" of the forum.
I have learned TONS from this forum and appreciate it greatly. When I have the pleasure of meeting some of the members in person, it is common for them to ask me if I spend all my time on the forum. It probably appears that way because I have been posting here regularly for over four years. That and the fact that I type about 100 words per minute. Plus the fact that I'm a motor mouth. Thanks to Bill and Donnie for their pioneering efforts here. Have a great day, |

IT is a great forum
I have saved a ton of money with my own repairs and gotten the joy of accomplishment.
There are many great experts on this forum that help us who are a little challenged a great deal. Larry is one of the best. For context, I am getting excited about reaching 1,000 posts. Larry is well over 7,000 and most of his offer advice, mine are mostly questions. Great guys and great forum. JCD |

"...I wish to thank all the knowledgeable ones for sharing their expertise..."
It is what makes this site better than any repair books/manuals/cd roms... The knowleable ones are able to put the interest/excitement back into car repair and care... Thanks again, and good luck and safety to all involved... MB hobbyist with an elusive 190E... |

I concur!!!
I brought my mercedes diesel because I have always heard that they were great automobiles (not cars). I used to literally pause everytime I would meet one on the interstate. I would drive up behind them and read the emblem in the back. I would walk up to them in parking lots at the mall. Take a good peep in the window if no one was looking. The interior of the old diesels would amaze me. The front grille was awesome. The automobiles just engulfed me. I made a lifetime goal to one day own one of these machines. I don't want to get carried away here, but after reading the post about the people who make up this forum I had an epiphany. I used to be literally afraid of my automobile when I first got it, because all I could see was $$$$ when I thought about it breaking down. Well, when I discovered this forum the pain seized more and more each day. I am definitely grateful to you all Larry, Benzmac, Lovedabch and countless others. I promise to help advise when I am no longer the novice that I am now. Having my 300Cd and this forum is a perfect marriage. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!

As a 300SD or SDL passes me on the road in the opposite direction, I check my side view to see if it's a diesel. Never mind the traffic in front of me Confession: I sometimes just stare out my window and look at my car.....then I think of an excuse to go out....."Dear...we need milk, right? No? How about a quick run to the post office or bank?"
