EGT gauge question.....
I know the ideal place to mount the probe is in the exhaust manifold, pre-turbo. Is it OK to mount is post-turbo? I see alot of kits with the "header" probe that is held on with a hose clamp. Would it be OK to mount one of these in the downpipe? What kind of a difference in temp would there be between a manifold mounted probe and a probe in the downpipe?

The guys at Banks Power say that at full load an EGT probe after the turbo can be 200-300 degrees lower than before the turbo. They make products for truck, but it is still good info to read.

It will work but it's not always the same amount of difference across the turbo. 900*f is a safe limit for post turbo.

If your going to do it, may as well do it right.
