First revolution at 900hp. Stock internals aren't good for more than 400NM

The stock U.S. pumps have 5.5mm pistons. I say we start exploring out options. Even 6mm plungers are an upgrade, 6.5mm even better. 7mm is what that company in Europe uses, and if that supports enough fuel for 400+ H.P. , that's already overkill for me. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'd be happy with around 230H.P.

Isn't there anything we can do to upgrade our pumps??? Does anyone have an old pump to disassemble and see if we could fit 6 - 6.5mm pistons. I'm sure we could match something up.

I've got a junk MW pump, but I can tell you right now that the only elements that will go in it will come from another MW... which pretty much limits it to the 10mm International Harvester DT466's elements from the MW pump... at least as far as I know... I would be happy to test fit any elements that you send me though

There is one person on the *chuman forum that had a set of 6mm plungers custom made.

I've got an MW pump at a big Bosch shop in Fort lauderdale. The owner looked at putting the 10mm IH plungers in and said it couldn't be done because they alo have a different stroke length. He also said he had two other MW pumps from other apps to look at and would let me know.

I would guess that's there is not a MB number for that part since it was never a factory piece. You could research the part number for a stock element for the MW pump on an International/Navistar DT360.

Your induction system will really have to be beefed up to compensate for the excessive fuel. It'll also idle like "rump, rump, rump..." because the governor can't react fast enough to keep it steady. The throttle will also be quite twitchey and sensitive.

I'd also be concerned whether the cam and rollers can handle the additional force of pushing a 10mm plunger, which would be about 4x the force of the 5mm plunger with the same pop pressure.

Would bigger lines, cut DVs, and bigger injector holes help this any? I still think DVs and injectors are the place to start... Been planning on calling JL Machine, just haven't got around to it yet.

Where where they made, and how much did it cost? What were the results?

According to Bosch literature, the MW pump is the little sister of the P series pump. The MW was designed for higher injection pressures (800bar) and higher volumes than the M pump. Based on this, a larger plunger should not be a problem as far as force goes as we only need 135bar. Also indicates that larger plungers should be common???

Made in Germany. Different companies worked on them. Meet BOSCH specification in material, treatment and tolerances. Design of control edges calculated, increased feeding bore.
Costs (beside the pre series, that failed) is approx. 75 EURO/each.
Results so far: Close to 90 cm3/1000 rev. (stock is 56), smooth running, perfect idle, full load had to be decreased with governor untouched on the stock engine.

IC, exhaust, turbo still in the box.
8 pieces at home (I ran out of raw material), one set running, 2 further pieces in progress.

Tom

How long have you had them in. The pump had to be bored out right? This is on MW?
