Why can I not have an opinion on this forum...My car... I can run anything I want to
and I do have a cold air induction from a Almost 2 square foot K&N with some homemade ducting . Instead of that fat stock air cleaner directly over the smoking hot turbo I have also wrapped the hot side of the turbo as well as the downpipe with
Kevler. Made a large spool up difference... If it cracks the housing I will update the turbo and learned a lesson as well
So far this car drives like a gas with 8 pounds of boost at 1200 rpm
Has anyone actually put a probe in the stock cleaner to see intake heat ...
I have , around 160 at an idle . It only will help at speed when the turbo heat from under has gone from fan air Enough for today....I have made enough people mad and drank enough beer
Sorry for not being a sheep
Thank You all for helping me with this problem I have
David

you are entitled. But your manners are terrible. If you wish to discuss things with a little more freedom of expression, there is the open discussion.

I am sure your work is very impressive and functions properly. You need only say it once though.

Thats not possible. 1- The air filter is not a significant restriction on these engines, especially right off idle when the turbo is spooling 2- Wrapping the exhaust makes no difference in spool time since there is no significant heat loss in the manifold yet. Wrapping is good for drag races where it helps lower exhaust manifold pressure and close spaces to reduce surrounding engine bay temperatures.

If you are making 8psi at 1200rpm you are lugging the engine, I bet you meant 2200rpm or 3200rpm. The T3 can't make boost anywhere near that fast anyways.

And when the engine is actually working...????

Actually, you have been a particularly wooly sheep. You have swallowed the many popular ricer tricks/myths by using a K&N hot air intake and wrapping a cast iron stock exhaust.
