Poorly made.

90* angles all over the place, no provision for an intercooler, no tuning of the runner length and square tube for the exhaust manifold. The W116 exhaust manifold and W115 intake manifold are far better designed.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too that the intake and exhaust Are not shaped correctly to promote performance improvement

Running the CCV straight into the cold side like that without some sort of catch-can or filter could spell disaster for the delicate aluminum compressor wheel if oil droplets form and impact at 140krpm... And what on earth is that square thing...?

It came that way stock on the W116 300SD.

Those manifolds are awful.

I'm in shock...

1) because that picture is the most horrific automotive-related thing I have seen in a long while and

2) Because the W116 vented the CCV straight into the turbo inlet... Can this really be? Seems to me like droplets are bound to coalesce which would spell disaster for the compressor.

The CCV into the inlet works fine for me. The W123/W126 oil sep isn't exactly great at removing oil either.

The BMW 525TDs vents its CCV directly into turbo inlet too....

Not a known fault for turbo failures the earlier E34/36 cars....

What was the language they were speaking?--Completely failed to identify it...
