OM 605/6 w124 non-turbo

Are the inj pumps on those engines mechanical, with linkage between pedal and IP? -just like 602/3
I see those have an Air-mass meter or something on the intake. What is the purpose of that if they are mechanical.. hmm

Is the 2,2l 95hp om604 DI or IDI. I have read both..

If you want a pump modified by myna, Does it matter if it is from a turbo- or nonturbo angine?

No. All OM 604/5/6 are electronic and IDI, except the 1995 E300 which has a mechanical pump.

Are all 300 24v w124 then mechanically controlled?

It would be strange if -94 was electronic and then -95 is mechanical..

95 was the first year of the OM606 in the USA. It went electronic in 1996 with the W210 body change.

Oki, thanks FI.
So what you are practically sayin is that all 124 body 605/6 have mech inj? and all of those were suckers in the 124 body.

If so that must be the perfect place to start a project with an engine with oil-jets, hi flow head and some decent rods.

It surely has a mechanical connection from pedal to IP, but what is the valve/AMM on the air intake? I guess some Emission ****. Norwegian car btw.

Right, it would need oil jets, pistons and rods since the non-turbo OM605/6 have much weaker parts and no jets.

Yes. Its a butterfly valve that restricts the intake to suck exhaust through the EGR.

Many of us in the state would kill for an E250 wagon.

With w124 there are no such problems. Since the 1987 300D is so rare you might want to consider the 1993-1995 E300D with non-turbo OM606. That particular engine has oil-jets for pistons etc and seems to hold up 400hp nicely. For tranny you need 722.3 automatic or Getrag manual from 190E 2.3-16. The automatic should be from diesel model so that the shifting points are not in too high rpm:s.

If you want bulletproof engine you can upgrade to aftermarket conrods and pistons from OM606.962 turbo engine. Or swap the whole engine to OM606.962.

So to me it seems perfect with a 4valve w124 without any internal upgrades if 400hp is enough.. Now just Need to wait for a cheap 124 to appear

Humm, not true. The non-turbo engine is built much weaker.

Compare the turbo to the non-turbo.

Yes, the finn says: the turbo engines are tougher, but based upon experience the non turbod 4-valves could be "safe" with 400. good enough for me

Is it confirmed that non-turbo 4-valve do not have oiljets?

Just a thought.., the 4valve head must flow a whole lot more than the 2-valve being able to produce 136 hp NA, when the 2valve-turbo need 0,9bar to produce an airflow to support 11hp more..
