Question performance injectors

Are these monark performance injectors a good upgrade to the 617 turbo motor? will i notice any increase in power or mileage? also how hard is it to just install new monark tips instead of purchasing the whole injector? there is a significant price difference.

http://www.**************.com/node/5646 the link i posted might not work i had to edit it so if it doesnt work the site is
www . mercedes source . com / node / 5646 just type in the link in the address bar without any of the spaces i put in there.

Those are not an upgrade. Thats just another marketing lie Mercedes$ource uses to screw money out of their customers, and as usual, about $100 too expensive.

Balancing to +/-3 bar is a lot. A good rebuilder will set them within +/-1bar.

This is the only good part of the ad-

Nope. Mb uses a somewhat unique prechamber design and no nozzles except the 240/, 251 and 256 (Maybe others I'm forgetting too) will work without melting things or smoking. Most other small diesels (VW, GM, Intertrashional, Nissan, Toyota, etc.) use more of a semi-open swirl chamber than a precombustion chamber.

If you want higher flow you'll have to get one of those nozzles extrude honed. Unfortunately, nobody has tried this yet.

Plus or minus 3 bar is a lot. I try to do them to all with in 3 bar. To get them any closer than that depends mostly on luck, the shims only come in increments of 0.05mm. A change of one shim "step" will change the pop pressure about 5 bar.

I have some triangle pintle nozzles waiting to go into my car. They may be available for OM617 as well. Once I get hold of some shims, I'll rebuild my injectors and find out if the experimental nozzles do any harm/good.

I am using Monark nozzles, I know Monark from Germany. I know people there. Nozzles are made in Germany (unlike Bosch). The 265 nozzle will fit the 617 and 603 according Monark. I know Bosch nozzles but the Monark nozzle is better, engine is quieter, much better idle and engine more responsive. Of course this is subjective somehow and the difference is obvious after you change nozzles...and there is a reason why you change nozzles. But still Monark I believe is the better nozzle. I am balancing injectors since many years and balancing within 3 bars is great. This gives a very smooth idle. You'll need a micrometer (3bars are probably 0.03mm +/- in shim difference) in order to do this and you need to work on shims. And after some time the nozzles will get out of balance and need to be rebalanced. I think MB is recommending rebalancing after 15K? Martin
