So the shift rods work but the trans mount and driveshaft did not?

correct.

I had to adjust the rods once they were installed.... that's a pain in the arse, still not 100% right.

I was going to do my first road trip today but it's too hot so the 400e with the cold a/c will have to work. Going to Detroit then Toronto. Maybe in the fall I will take the 300d to Detroit, I would like to know what the mpg's are now... still on the same tank from like 3 months ago.

Are you cold blooded or have a phobia/medical condition that prevents you from being outdoors when its hot or something? It seems like the majority of your life is completely dependent on the weather

yes I am prone to heat related injuries. Plus I have red hair and hate being in direct sunlight. So given the choice I steer clear.

Hey Ashedd what size clutch are you using? The biggest you can use in the 190 flywheel is 8.5. Do you know what size is the one in the 300E?

I think that the 190D 2.5 (1987) has a 9", I could be wrong.

From my records:

8" clutch-190D(2.2)
8.5"-190e(2.3),190d(2.5)
9"-190e(2.6),(2.3 16V)
9.5"-300E

I thought there was a 10" in the mix somewhere but now I can't find it.

From my measurements and part number cross reference I am of the opinion you can get the 9.5" clutch on the 190 flywheel. Because I was trying to decide on a stock 300e clutch kit or a performance 9" kit. FYI: w201 performance stuff actually exists and is cheaper than w124 stuff!

winmutt.. I just recently threw the scrap paper away that had the magic driveshaft measurements. I thought I had posted the lengths in the past?? I think in a thread I started called "my shaft is too long".

I am still willing to sell(or trade for a w124 wagon) my project if anyone wants a head start. I also still have a complete swap kit in the garage. Ideally I would like a m104 powered 300TE with 5spd.

Oh and...

Sachs makes clutches in germany AND South America(Brazil?).. Once you decide on a clutch you can figure out the Sachs part number and buy one that way. Same clutches were used in VW's... the SAME clutch you might need will be cheaper for the VW and cheaper still if from Brazil.

I though that was a cool find when I figured it out.
