That is so awesome! I don't know that much about the 606, but I would love to drop a 603.960/61 in a black-on-black w140. I don't think I quite have that skill level yet ... .

I love the 140s, and they come pretty cheap these days ... which does kind of make me worry a lot will be lost in the CARS ordeal. Did you buy the car just to do the transplant or was this a car you already had? Either way, cool.

You could always look around and find one that had the engine replaced... that's what I did

Wink 603/606

The 603 is more available than the 606 but its just a matter to time before you wind up going for a head gasket ! Its alot more work, but the outcome will be better !

How did you resolve the throttle configuration, as well as the oil filter tower issues? You have a pic on the shutterfly site that appears to show how you got the throttle stuff sorted, but I can't quite make it out (can't zoom in without a Shutterfly account). The tower looks like it will interfere with the intake manifold, and the steel coolant line from the head doesn't easily mount to the 603 tower, like the 606 version.

The oil filter housing is from the 603 so is the coolant tube. A steel bracket was made to fit the trottle linkage, It does not interfere with the intake. The drive by wire is setup would have been easier as far as the linkage goes, to get the 606 IP to work that will be the next car!

Not sure what that coolant tube looks like on the 140, but my version is tied to the fuel heater and is designed to bolt to the 603 intake manifold--so it probably won't work for me. I think the cruise actuator is installed differently on the 140, so your throttle arrangement is definitely not like mine.

I've read in another description of a 606 into W140 install that the 603 oil filter tower interferes with the intake manifold, and it appears to be a tight fit on mine, as well--not quite there yet, though

When I picked up my 606 I seriously considered buying the transmission and all the attendant computers, throttle pedal and assorted wiring in order to do a full drive-by-wire install.

As harsh as this sound, Take a small grinder to the oil housing cap and the last runner on the 606 intake! All you have to do is shave off a very small amount of material, its tight but it works! trust me! It works! The 606 has no cruse actuator to speak of! so if you can get the computers to work, more power to you! Also as I said earlier use the 603 coolant tube! not the 603 fuel heater, you will see when you et there they are sperate!

On my version of the 603, the coolant tube is the fuel heater, or more accurately is the source of heat. The fuel heater is a jacket that circulates fuel around the tube. The 606 I'm installing has the fuel heater up front by the inj. pump.

Yes, I've already ground down the intake runner and filter tower cap in anticipation of installation (I'm not that far along in the project); just wanted to see if you had any additional problems installing yours.

Are you using the oil filter housing from the 124 (.960) or the 126 (.961/.970)?

Yes, I'm aware of that, which is why I'm so keen to figure out how best to find a solution. That and the throttle arrangement are really the last two major items holding me up.

Are there significant differences?
