Finally MB owner. 190 2,5td tuning

I am back with good news:)

Just bought a sweet little darling. Dark grey 1988 pre facelift automatic tranny and without any egr or messy aircond. Had it for three days, and I am superhappy with it.

I dream about sending the IP to mynä some glory day, but before that investment, I want to install a sequential roots supercharger (lysholm/eaton) to see if I can make that work together with the stock turbo in a relatively smooth way, before I invest in 7mm.

I plan to move the alternator (to aircond position) and put a supercharger below the turbo. Keep original airflow routing above and across cylinderhead, but replace the crossovertube with a homemade A/W cooler unit to keep it compact.

I have asked some supercharger stuff here before, but this is still unanswered

Q: How much CFM is OM602 consuming without turbo(at say 2000rpm)? Is there an airflowgraph somewhere?
-And how much CFM is it possible to press through the 602 before turning the supercharger into a heatpump?
-What model eaton is then suitable depending on airflow/pressure, and what will be a good gearing ratio?

The supercharger will only be there as an initial airprovider before the turbo spools. Practically speaking it will only be working below 2500 and for very short periods.

There was no turbo 190D or OM602 in 1988. Make sure your engine actually started life as a turbo and not an engine a previous owner strapped a turbo onto.

It`s an original turbo car. Live in Norway.

In the US. ;)

Nobody has any clue how much volume of air that is going through the system of a NA 2,5 and what size supercharger is the best option for a 13psi sequential supercharger..? I see a cheap M45 i want to buy, but I fear it is to small..?

Is Forcedinduction on holiday? He has always some good thoughts to destribute..

I gathered that much after he said he lives in Norway, thanks.

A permanent one.

Play around with the Not2Fast calculator. The link is already set for an OM602.
An M45 would be between 55-60% efficient at 13psi, far lower than a well matched turbo (in the mid 70%). At 13psi you would have both the parasitic losses of the SC and very thin (hot) air, power would be significantly lower at the same pressure.

Eaton maps can be found here: http://www.eaton.com/EatonCom/ProductsServices/PerformanceProducts/Products/Superchargers/index.htm

It looks like all the M series blowers are very inefficient. Their TVS series R410 and R900 look like they would be more competitive with a turbo.
