Engine Pics, Thermal Switch Question

Well I haven't posted pics of my engine in a while, and I had to repair an oil leak tonight so I cleaned up the engine and took some pics for you all.

I moved the battery to the truck to better counter balance my fat rear-end in the drivers seat, and to open up space for the air filter.

My next step is to get an electric fan for the back of the intercooler to help pull air through it since its in a less the ideal location.

Any ideas for a thermal switch that could control when the intercooler fan would come on? I'm thinking a switch set between 100 and 120 degrees F.

AutoZone sells a kit that can do that. Its made by Thermo-Cool I think. I can get you the part number and specs tomorrow if you'd like. I thought about doing something similar on my SD.

That would be sweet

I wouldn't fool with a thermal switch. Rather, a pressure switch that activates with boost or even a micro switch that activates when you press the throttle more than a given amount.

You can get pressure switches on ebay for pretty cheap. I would look for a Hobbs 76583. Factory set at 4PSI but you can run it up to 7PSI.

Here's another one that would work great. It's adjustable from 2 to 24PSI.

KarTek, I was thinking the same thing. I was kicking around in my head to have it run off the heat or the pressure. suppose the pressure would have it running less often then the heat, and only when truly needed. that would make my alternator happy.

There are 2 temp switches at AutoZone. Both are adjustable. The ones temp range is 32*-258*F. The other is 120* to 150*F. The first is $17.99 and the other is $34.99.
