IP oil
will all the engine oil drain out of the IP when you remove the back cover?
or just the IP oil , |
If the engine is not running, only the IP oil.
|
Don't forget to refill it before starting. The fill plug is on the top driver side, the ALDA points to it.

what kind of oil is used in the IP? i have searched many times and cannot find this, once i know i will remove the rack limiter
|
Its just engine oil. I believe the capacity is something like 0.7l. On all except the early diesels the IP oil is fed in through the small line on the outboard side of the pump and exits in the vicinity of the input shaft into the timing chain area. However, it is necessary to fill the IP after you drain its oil because the flow rate through the small feed hose is low.

ok thank you, and also where is the best place to get a good EGT gauge for cheap?
|
eBay is all I can think of, unless you're willing to say that any of the general car gauge manufacturers qualify as acceptable quality.
If there are any manufacturers that you don't mind the quality level of, try egauges.com and dig through the listings. On eBay, I'd look for any brand that you trust, one of the racing gauges, or possibly an aviation gauge in the right temp range (assuming that you can find one that runs on 12 volts!) |
Try www.jegs.com they have VDO brand "cockpit" gauges. They are very resonable and they seem to match the instrument cluster the best I've found.
