m pump add on appendage

I was checking this pump thats on a guys euro grey market car and its got this add on thing on the ds of the pump--whats it for? theres a black line comeing out the side facing the ds fenderwell and the other end is loose--where is it supposed to go to?

are you talking about the vacuum control valve?

to the trans for shifting stiffness

Well they both have automatic tranz's, Mine is a 81 non turbo cd us car that somehow came with the M and this one is a greymarket one--with this gizmo bolted to the side of the pump.

so what modulates shifting on your engine if you don't have this VCV?

Im assuming there is a vcv on the 81 --all the m pumps I have ever seen do not have this thing on them.

it is on all the 60x series engines.

it is easily removed or installed.


there was a guy.. mario maybe?... who put a a turbo 602 pump on a 617. Just a thought. may have been vice-versa

theres a youtube vid of it.

also, after installing your pump, you must have made adjustments to trans shifting, right?

what did you adjust?

do you have the solid linkages instead of the bowden cable?

Umm.. i didn't put a pump on --it came with the M pump--I dont think 81's had a bowden cable--but the linkages in that cd are sloppy. JTY put a modded 602 pump on his yellow 617 300sd with 7 mm elements.

My 81 does have a bowden cable and this later euro does not.

Thats a standard Euro VCV valve for the transmission--looks to be a 617 n/a auto vehicle....

All M types for Auto Ive ever seen have that VCV....
