I see a couple of dyno result threads but not much for answers. Everybody wants more performance but noone tests it? If i get a chance ill run my down one of these days and run'r and see what the old girl is capable of.

Not all of us have a chassis dyno available, none in my town. Also, the budget-tuner who is simply turning screws, probably doesn't want to spend the bank on instrumented upgrades.

many dyno's will not run a diesel... be sure and ask first.

that's good. sorry to seem random, but the diesel vehicle has no spark plugs which is what many dyno's pull an RPM signal from. RPM is critical to determining torque and HP.

Wise-A comments and rapid fire one liners won't further your cause or encourage others to respond when you need help.

Just sayin'...

Now, as to your question: I've done a baseline dyno on my car but it wasn't too successful since they couldn't get a good read on the RPM's.

It's also true that it gets expensive to do a pull after every major mod. Think of it as adding $75 to everything you do to the car.

I have a drag strip only two miles from me. Have no idea if anyone can take a run, will have to find out. For now a steep hill(same one each time of course) gives me an idea of what effect each thing does. Hope you post dyno results for yours.

I notice the fringe performance guys here on the forum have chips or personalities of some sort. FI is a HUGE warehouse of knowledge, but he's got a jackhammer attitude. it must be all the Gforces you racecar guys subject yourselves to.
... of course I wrenched on a doorslammer in the 80's... in my youth, I was probably a little knowitall myself. I still have that 68Camaro SS too... I ought to pull it out of mothballs someday. too bad the closest dragstrip is only an 1/8th mile track, and the closest 1/4 is in darlington... unless you're rich and can afford to try out the speedway...

While we are offf topic i have been searching and failing, the guy i work with has a 83 300sd and it appeared to be miss-firing but as we began to actually observe it's operation we realized it was more of a surge. so in a un-related instance we pulled the alda plate off and while it is running the internals of the pump all pull at the same time as the surge, it is constant below about 20% throttle and at about the same rate as if it had one dead hole. Anyone seen any threads on this?

Surging? Does the stop lever bounce with the surge?
