K24 fitted to a OM617 engine?

does a K24 from a 6cyl OM603 fit into the space formerly occupied by the T3, air research or K26 on an OM617? the exhaust flange looks to be indentical but since the turbine will be upside down once installed on the OM617 will the oil drain port be within the acceptable angle? any other problems besides fabbing new oil supply and drain lines?

also i am wondering what is the shaft speed (turbo RPMs) of an 84 300sd with OM617 crusing @ 60MPH on a flat interstate on a cool day (60deg f) ? Turbo is an air research T3.

thank you for any advice!

You should be able to look up the compressor maps to see what rpm the turbo is running. Think for the k26 with a stock ip tune, 4-5 psi at cruise is about normal, a little less at only 60, 3 psi or so. This is what mine 300d ran.

I wasn't aware of a K24 installed on 603s. The external wastegate T-3 I run on my 103 came from a 603 and is a .42 / .48 A/R which should be the same A/R as the intergral wastegate turbo from the 617s... I'm no expert on the subject though so there may be applications I'm not aware of.

Not sure it was a K24, but I have a KKK on my SDL.

Should be a k24 according to the turbo info thread on TOF.
