Newbie post

Hi,
Diesel is absolutely new to me... I actually own an old 2002 MB140D, a van manufactured by SSang Yong, now discontinued.
It seems almost all data about this beautiful vehicle was erased; I can't find tech data or parts catalog. Need, by now, replace shock absorbers but local dealers (Colombia) don't have front ones.
Can you help me finding bus clue data to search info?
Is there a workshop manual or parts catalog?

Have a nice day,

Mauricio

Welcome Mauricio, unfortunately I have no information to share regarding your vehicle, but I bet that someone here does. Are you sure that it is a 140? 140 normally refers to a large S-class chassis. Any additional information about your vehicle that you share can be helpful.

It's a van

Thank you. This is a van built by Ssang Yong in 2002. Mercedes Benz sold them in Colombia through Automercantil, the official seller here. Then, a few years ago, parts were sent to ACMC, a local dealer. There is no information about original or replacing parts. Please disregard my english. Vehicle manuals says it is MB 100 Series, engine OM662, also installed in Musso and Korando. The first thing I have to do is changing shock absorbers. I think knowing original specs, I could select correct replacement ones manufactured here.

Best regards,
Mauricio

Looks like a great van

Can you get part numbers from the old shocks?

Well, no, I can't. Unfortunatelly, original shocks were replaced and their numbers are unreadable. I obtained a frontal used shocks made by local Gabriel manufacturer but original specs may be very different. That is why I'm searching data from Mercedes Benz or Ssang Yong, without success. Just now, you, in this forum, are helping me.
Thanks a lot.

And yes Simpler, it's a great minibus! It's smooth, powerful, and we all are happy with it. Its motor sounds like a 280 / 78.

Hi cullennewson. By now I know this minibus was built originally by Daewoo, then by Ssang Yong and then became Mercedes Benz. Those ones, allways built in Korea by Ssang Yong. Under Daewoo and Ssang Yong was named 'Istana'. I found also motor repair manual. But nothing about van or technical info. At this moment, one person from local Ssang Yong parts dealer gave me original frontal shocks part number. I'll tell you in a while! Thanks for your valuable help and data.
