when i had a boost pump I believe, my mechanical pump didn't have to work as hard pumping fuel,and thats why I had more power,and 1 mpg better mileage.
I could charge up and down mountains with ease passing eveything in my SD.If you notice most new car don't climb as fast as 1970 cars.my pump was 12 psi carter electric pump.
