I was wondering if anyone has ever tried using GM 6.5 nozzles in the om617 injectors.

I have read about people using om617 nozzles in the GM 6.2 and 6.5 so I was wondering if you could make gm nozzles work on the 617.

If so you can buy sets of 8 GM marine nozzles fairly cheap.

maybe gain some power with other mods?

I would see if the pintles are 6mm vs. 5mm as your starting point.

There is a broad range of nozzles for the OM617.9XX application. You could use used German Boschs #240/, #261, #265, #1930, #315 and I am sure there are others.

#315's will flow about 15% more fuel, but you still have to deal with that extra fuel,, e.g., extra air, et cet.

yea I plan on getting a after cooler and different turbo. I have a turbo off a 1990 5.9L Cummins but I think it would take for ever and a day to spool it.

were is a good place to get the nozzles you listed?

ill see if I can get the size on the pintles for the 6.5 GM nozzles.

Currently, there are 3 or 4 vendors in the USA which sell Bosios. Price various by up to 20-25% if you buy in bulk.

There is only "one" vendor selling Monarks in the USA. That person is pretty pricey, with high markup.

There are a few vendors on Ebay selling "Bosch", but the pricing on some of them leads me to believe they are Chinese knockoffs. The only way to tell is buy the nozzles and hold the plastic tube next to a flame and the real Bosch logo will show up in a light blue color. But, you're stuck with either the real McCoy or junk.

You can buy Chinese made nozzles for less than a $1.00 USD a piece, but not sure how they will hold up. Actually, shipping is more than the nozzles from mainland China. I investigated this route a year ago or longer and there was zero interest on any forum. I was ready to squeeze the trigger on buying 1,000 nozzles and no dice.

What engine an OEM is using a particular nozzle for does not make any difference as long as the spray angle and the pressure section diameter are correct for the MB engine.

As long as it is a 0 angle nozzle and a 6mm pressure section diameter you are good. The part numbers have the spray angle and the pressure section diameter encoded into it.

I missed that-if you get your hands on XXL Chinese nozzles, and assume a 50% throwaway rate that would still be good. I'd try em' (once I get my engine in a car....)

I'm using some 12 degree Citroen/Peugeot nozzles in the om603 right now and they seem to be performing admirably. Also tried some vw nozzles which seemed to smoke a lot more under load and some other ones I can't remember.

I tried to capture some high speed video pop testing various nozzles. This is played back at 1/10th speed.
