IP Swap: 603 IP into a 606 engine

I call it a fuel throttle cable.

That's some good info on the 603 swap! But I'm looking for info on creating a ECM module for the electronic 606 pump. A buddy has a system running on
Arduino, but hasn't cracked the SDK in the 606 pump. His project is open source and free, if someone wants to help him out. Once it's created there will be free software and instructions on how to build the parts.

Here is someone that is running DIY VNT and diesel boost fuel control. They say that full Bosch VP37 pump control is in the prototyping stage.

dmn's playground - Standalone VNT controller

Also have a look at later Chevy, Dodge, Ford diesel truck sites as someone has bound to have done this before.

It's better to go with the 603 pump and fabricating a throttle cable system. Much more support out there for it

If you wanted to go down the 603 IP route on a W210, what do you do about the rest of the car, namely the transmission control? Not to mention passing inspection/ emissions in certain states....

I'll check that site out. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm the type that wants to do something new. And I want electronic control and mapping. Thanks though!

I'm putting 606 into a 1970 114 chassis. Using a differential/axles from the w210 chassis and a 6 speed manual out of a clk 230. For gauges in just gotta toss the old cluster and 3D print a housing for electronic gauges.

There's another guy on here that goes by "tubularfab". I'm going to box up some old parts and send to him for experimenting to accomplish what you're trying to do. From a processing point of view, it shouldn't be difficult.

Inputs:

Throttle
MAP
RPM
Rack position feedback
VGT feedback (if desired)

Output:

Rack position
VGT position (if desired)

If you want to get fancier, you could add engine temperature to have the ECU limit rack movement until the engine was up to operating temp.

As i've heard it told, it's simply a varied voltage to the IP. So measure the IP voltage at full rack (floored, peak output) and then make a pedal assembly that feeds the IP that voltage range via the pedal.

You would lose the rev limiter, but would gain manual control.

And EGT sensing that pulls fuel back when temps are too high for to long.

Fuel also needs to be pulled back as revs rise. ( torque management.)

In case I don't check back in, here's the guy working on it. Stuck on developing the SDK for the rack position sensor. Open source project so anyone can jump in and it will be available for free for everyone.

Awesome. Didn't even realize it. He's the man. His VW is pretty cool. He has a 606 pump currently he's playing with.

Would LOVE to make this work. Since I have a 99 E300, which I'd love to get big power out of my 606 (and mate it to a strengthened and freshened tranny), or, insert said driveline into an R129 SL and have something quite unique

Right? I'm wondering with mapping if you could get good mileage and then crank it up for power.

I want to do it one day, but am going in the direction of a driver and a lower horspower 617.

Follow that link and talk to the guy. He's working on it and making it open source.
