Diesel pump timing om617
Hey all. I've fitted a turbo on my om617 engine. Adjusted the pump 3 turns on the pump, and blocked the WG hose on turbocharger. Also running the air through an intercooler from a pajero. Pressure is approx 1.1 bar and I've never seen my exhaust temp (on downpipe) over 450deg C.
I've never adjusted the timing on the pump, neither know what it is for.. is it nescessary to adjust it now that I have turbo? The stock nozzles open at 115 Bar after what I heard. 135 on the 617a model. Will it be a good investment to get some that opens on 135? Mine is in pretty good condition i think, no smoke at all and starts at 1/4 crank even in the winter... I have a problem with the valve in the front. It need adjustment more often than the others.. I adjust before every winter, and I drive 5-10k km a year.. Anybody else having this problem? |

More air needs more fuel. I don't know if it 115 will hurt, but it should be better with 135.

You're going to cook your engine if you're not careful.
Pyrometers should always be installed pre-turbo, the turbo uses heat to work so the downpipe temp will be much lower, and you've got false readings so to speak. 115 bar injectors were replaced by the 135bar even for NA engines, apparently the USA never got the memo though lol. However the STT turbo kits and the like never bothered altering the pop pressures... I'm in the process of a turbo conversion, using a Holset HE200WG with water/air intercooler and a souped up IP, so I'm wary of pushing the limits too far
