W126 Diesel Install

Hi guys,

I have came across a lovely W126 300se and I have a 94 E250D 5 speed as a donar car.

I'm wondering does anyone have experience in transplanting a diesel into a W126.

Would the engine and gear box mate to the 126 chassis.

W126 is 200kg heavier than the W124, 250D is rated at 115hp approx so wont be racing anyone.

Any input appreciated.

I'm guessing this is a an OM602 you're using, right? If so I'd recommend trying to use the w126 bodied SDL mount arms which bolted to a OM603. (I have a spare set that I didn't use if you want them).

It should be a real easy transplant from a mechanical standpoint. Convert it to an electric cooling fan for the engine temp and you will open up all kinds of room on the front of the engine. Find a good driveshaft shop to build a driveshaft for it and you should be good to go. You will need to run a return line back to tank but there shouldn't be much to it. Hardest part is probably going to figure out how to shut it off.

You will have to modify or replace front springs.

Keep it lovely; the conversion is much more troublesome than at first imagined.
