My Hood ornament was stolen.
Looks like they cut it clean off, are there any quick detach ornaments available?
I want to throw the car cover on it but since I live in an apartment I'm not allowed to. ****ing pos land Lord. I'll probably just throw the cover on at dusk and take it off at dawn honestly. |
Oops I meant to post on diesel discussion

If it is a real problem where you live, there are flat medallion replacements for the star available. No detachable stars to my knowledge.

I had this problem years ago when I lived next to a bunch of drunk idiots.
The stars are easy to replace. I bought a bunch of cheap replacements on ebay. Just use pliers, yank the old one out, and put a new one in. What's the reason you can't put the car cover on especially overnight? I'm surprised you're able to get away working on the car. |

Three years ago, there was a guy on Ebay that had some that screwed into place with a locking screw. They seemed well-made but he wanted 100 a piece for them. Should have bought one for the novelty. |
a few years back the local Indy (Larry, owner of MB Garage) started seeing cars with hood stars having been cut off, like with a shear or something. He was repairing them at a good clip then one day the principal from the local high school called and asked if he had been replacing many hood stars and how much he charged for each one. Said they had a small number of students that were wearing the stars on chains around their neck, maybe some sort of gang competition to see who had the most mercedes stars on their body.
The principal took all the stars, called the kids parents to come down and made them pay for each one! |

There used to be a removable star available. The base was mounted to the hood and had a hole in it. The star had a shaft that fit into the hole. It was easy to grab & go but would also be easy to steal.
I watched a youtube vid where the star just needs to be pressed with the palm of a hand and it will snap off at the stem. |
