Oil Leak in "distributor" plug cover 240d Help
I have an oil leak in what I believe to be the distributor plug/cover/cap in my 1982 240D
Right behind the power steering below on the block Theres a 19mm threaded plug i though was leaking but its actually the sleeve around the plug thats in the block.....any suggestions or info on how i would remove/seal the leak... Would i just crank down on the plug assuming the collar is threaded in? Breaking it loose was difficult. |
The diesel block is not shared with the gas engine, there is no "distributor plug" in the block. Please post a picture of what you're talking about.

I would start by checking the spark plug gap, and adjusting the carburetor. ;)

A picture would be helpful please.

He's talking about the oil pump drive shaft drive top cover thing. The block is not shared with a petrol engine, but it's in the exact place it is on one....

MXMAN, Do an image search on 240D intermediate shaft. Under the plug is an aluminum seal washer, on the bushing that the plug retains there is an o-ring on its side. The bushing tends to wear out, you will see this on the image searches.
Good luck!!! |
