After HPS Open House June 5, 2004 at Mech-Tech Motorsports

HPS WOWS POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS WITH ALL-NEW SUPERCHARGER SYSTEM DEBUT AT MECH-TECH MOTORSPORTS

Mercedes-Benz Owners Treated to Free Dyno Pulls, Food, Drink, and Test Drives

ESCONDIDO Calif. — High Performance Systems, LLC (HPS) wowed onlookers as they rolled out their all-new, second-generation supercharger system this summer at Mech-Tech Motorsports in Escondido, California.

The new system was highlighted in HPS' CLK500, with features including:

• Magnuson forth generation MP112 Eaton supercharger
• Water-to-air intercooling system
• Peak boost up to seven pounds per square inch (psi)
• Supercharger whine significantly reduced

HPS' new supercharger system will be offered for 1998 and newer V8 Mercedes-Benz vehicles including C-, CL-, CLK, E-, G-, ML-, S-, and SL- Class models. The systems will be even more potent than before, but at the same value-leading price point that HPS has become known for. Customers can expect power gains of up to150 horsepower, with low-end torque gains to match. Pricing for the new systems will start at $6,995.

Open house attendees were treated to two free dyno pulls on Mech-Tech's in-house Dynojet, free food and drink, and test drives in HPS' first-generation supercharged E430 and second-generation supercharged CLK500

San Diego-area Mercedes-Benz owners came out in E430s, E55s, CLK430 Cabriolets, E320s, and C32 AMGs. All wanted to get a look at the new supercharger system HPS is preparing to offer later this summer. In addition, all Mercedes owners were given complimentary dyno time to find out what kind of power their cars were making.

Prospects had a chance to compare the old bolt-on system in HPS' E430 to the new intake, intercooled system in HPS' CLK500. The new kit was placed neatly on the table for onlookers to inspect components and compare the increased displacement MP112 supercharger to that of the old MP90.

Bill Kavadeles, HPS program manager and vice president of engineering was on hand to answer technical questions, while HPS vice president of sales and marketing, Adam Follman helped customers understand the marketing strategy, and fielded questions of a sales and service nature.

HPS' public relations agency of record, Gardner Automotive Communications, Inc., also was present, as HPS continues to gain exposure in the marketplace through well-planned PR and marketing initiatives.

“Our new systems reflect our R & D philosophy,” said Kavadeles. “We take all customer feedback into account, and then act on it, addressing customer demands to produce a better product. The open house gave us a chance to put our money where our mouths are, and show that we are a first-class engineering organization.”

Prospects lined up to peer under the hood of the HPS CLK500, and also turned system components over in their hands, as they marveled at the craftsmanship that HPS is becoming known for. A few test drives were given to those interested, while others asked question after question, attempting to soak up as much information as they could. Open houses are information gathering sessions as much as they are social events, and this latest proved to be no different.

Follman commented, “Some people judge the success of an open house on number of attendees alone, but we have never been in the business of producing a product that is some things to all people. We build a product that is everything to one person. We had a great showing of those individuals that appreciate a high-end product at a reasonable price. By that measure alone, we had one of the most successful open houses ever."

Upon going on sale later this summer, HPS' new supercharger systems can be purchased by San Diego residents direct or through Mech-Tech Motorsports at:

1277 Simpson Way
Escondido, CA 92029
