Oct GTG @ Old Navy's

Here is a link to some pictures I posted at my website of the VW TDI GTG, held here at my house Oct 16th. XRailRoader had injector problems in his Jetta, so we removed the offending unit.

Here is link to webpage with more picture's. You guys missed a great outing.

Um??? Do I need my eyes examined? Could you please describe that component again for me?????

Is that an injector from a battleship or something????

It's from a diesel locomotive. The hint was in the guys handle of XRailRoader. Couple of the people had gotten over 50 mpg on the trip to the GTG, also we had one car there with 243,xxx miles on the odometer.

They are decent cars. Only things I don't like are FWD and timing belts every 60k.

Your behind the times, our '02 has a 100,000 belt and we changed one at the spring GTG here that had 143,000 on the belt.

Not sure what you are looking at, but there are no cars with rusty trunks in the yard. That includes the 21 MB. If you were looking at the picture with the guy holding an great big injector, that's reflections of leaves on the tree in neighbors yard.

With proper tools a shadetree mechanic can do it in about 3 hrs for Golf or Jetta, New Beetle a little less. That includes changing water pump, serpentine belt and using the VAG-COM software to check the cars electronic's. The TDI is electronic heavy, even the throttle is drive by wire, no mechinal connection to to engine. But the system seems very long term reliable.

Hey, I didn't get a special invite.

I've got no college girls to bring either

Hattie 's getting rid of his diesel and gettin' a Camry.

So Hattie, hows about hooking me up with those college girls so I can go to old navys party?

Cheers,

bill
