Northwest/Portland/South Washington GTG Follow Up Thread
Hey,
well the Northwest GTG went well and we had a few automobiles turn out. It was chilly weather with the hint of snow up on the hills but we bared the cold and blabbed about our toys. Thanks to everyone who showed up...was great to put some faces and voices with the words on the screen. The Particpants: lietuviai (230CE) LJ DERBY and wife (300D Turbo) gerryv (E500) Brandon314159 (300SD) Here are some pictures of the various cars. The Coupe is of special interest as well as the E500 with Nitrous injection (yes a gasser ) Enjoy Last edited by Brandon314159; 01-08-2005 at 07:15 PM. |

Sorry I didn't make it down. Would have been fun despite the weather
Yeah, as Eric said, we've kinda given up around here. We did 3 or 4 good ones in the past, but the last couple attempts fizzled out. Guess we didn't make them exciting enough But you guys keep at it! Maybe I can make it to the next one.

Looks like you guys had fun! I fully intended to make it there, but to quote the Great Prophet Zarquon, "Terribly sorry... all kinds of things popping up at the last moment."
How about another one in the spring when it's a bit warmer? We could take a scenic drive somewhere, maybe through the Gorge like someone suggested. And I might actually have my Euro lights installed in my 124 then, so I'll have something to show off.

I think the best part of the GTG was meeting people face to face and being able to visualize them whem you read the threads. We did have a good time, although chilly, and my wife even said she enjoyed herself even though she was the only female there. Those are great pics Brandon but you could have had more pics of the diesels. (lol)
On our way home we went through Newberg and on to the casino in Grande Ronde where my wife came out about $100.00 ahead and I had their "hot wings". They have the best "wings" I've ever tasted. All in all a very good day and I hope another one materializes in the spring. Lee

My apologies for not being able to stay longer (and for a rumbling stomach) but I enjoyed putting some names to faces and especially seeing the Euro 230CE.
I agree that a drive in the spring would be a fun activity, perhaps 3-4 hours total. A trip up to the Coldwater Creek center at Mt. St. Helens would be nice, though you diesel guys probably would have some challenge keeping up with us gassers on the mountain roads Another nice ride would be out along Washington Highway 14 to the Maryhill Museum (they have a cafe and the museum is interesting) and then back on I-84 on the Oregon side of the river. That way you get to see the full Gorge. Set a date, let's debate an activity, and go for it! Cheers, Gerry |
