This sucks... I will be in Chicago from Aug 20-23

I would have loved to bring my new 560. Last year my 300 was totalled a week prior to the show, so this will be 2 shows in a row without my car.

I'd appreciate photos of the show and what older Benz's were there.

You can enter as display-only or you can enter the Clean Car Contest. For just display purposes, only your own pride is at stake for the condition of your car. For the Clean Car Contest, people do get their cars very clean. If you're driving from out of town, we will have a water hose or two to help get the bugs off (bring your own cleanings supplies).

Any questions? germancarshow@columbus.rr.com

Thanks,

I was at this, and it was a lot of fun. I got a few ideas and met some nice people. There was a different mix of MB's there than I expected - only a small number of true "classics", and of my direct interest, one very interesting 350SL, a 500SL (gray market), several 560's, including mine - and no (no) 380SL's!

I certainly agreed with the "Best in show" - an early 90's 850(CSi?), which in addition to being fabulous and rare, was indistinguishable from new.

Strife,

Hello and thanks for the complements. It was actually a small show this year because the VW club had a huge event (300+ cars) on the other side of town the weekend before. Apparently they were too tired to come out a second weekend in a row. We usually have about 25 VW's and we only had about 8 or so? But that's fine, they've shown in strong numbers the first three years, so they can take a year off!

I'm glad you had fun. I spend so much time registering people and judging cars that I don't get to actually meet people and talk. Thanks for coming all the way from KY, that's a long trip for a relatively small show. Did you bring a friend? There were two people from KY. We also had an Audi from MI and an MB from W.Va.

I hope you'll be back next year, and I hope improve on the size of the show. We had 57 cars this year, I expect we'll get back to a 70 to 80 car show like we had last year. We'll also work on getting more vendors and sponsors and getting more donations for a really good raffle.

I'll post a link to pictures when I get them all collected and sized down for the internet.

I did not mean to short the rally 450SLC. It was interesting to see a car set up that way, I've only seen pictures od anything like it in a book. If I had room in my garage, my other car would be an SLC, rustproofed, and ready for winter.

There were four, I believe. A pale yellow 560SEL (Won 1st in MB class, and for sale!), a silver 300SEL, a 350SDL, and a red SEC (not sure which engine). I'll post the link to pictures when they're ready.

Next year, I plan on giving that pale yellow 560SEL its run for the money. Any more info on that car? (not interested in purchase)

Looking forward to pictures.
