Summertime Houston GTG?

Maybe sometime in July or August? And now, I wait for feedback and suggestions.

Great

Sounds like a good idea to me, as long as I'm still living in Houston at that point.

Well, you and me, that's two who have expressed interest. BTW- Why might you not be in Houston soon?

I might be moving to Longview. It's about 2 hours east of Dallas. Biggest problem is not too many MB people up there. BTW...any idea where and what we could do for this GTG?

Here's a few ideas, have a BBQ in a park, go to somewhere like Prince's on the Gulf Fwy. and park and meet and eat, they have classic car shows up there on some weekends I think. We could meet somewhere, and cruise on over to somewhere else. We could do like we did once before, meet in a parking lot and just converse among each other, but I think something different will be better this time.

Thumbs up

Good idea ! I vote for a park location (shade) if we have it during the day in August. The other possibility is to have it late in the day say 6-8pm but that might exclude those who would come from away.

Well, based on the feedback I've gotten, we can do a couple of things... Whichever one we choose, it would most likely be on July 16th sometime in the cooler evening if it's alright with everyone else.
1. Meet at a local park, park the cars, talk, then drive over to a nearby restaurant and get some grub.

2. Meet at the Prince's Hamburgers at I-45 South and Fuqua Rd., they have classic car shows and meets there. Someone would probably have to call the manager of the restaurant up first and see if it's ok with them to park up there, and have a little "show" of our own.

3. If someone else has a better suggestion, you're welcome to post it.

uGH, sorry Joe I don't like the restaurant idea at all. If we're going to eat let's grill some burgers in the shade, I think that would be alot more fun. In a restaurant you hafta act a certain way and all that, you know? And with these hit-or-miss late afternoon thundershowers we've been having lately I think it would be more exciting as well!

I vote for Tom Bass park next weekend about 6-7ish, I'll bring the stuff to grill burgers, the charcoal, buns, meat, cheese, veggies, condiments and paper plates, and others can bring drinks, chips, ice cream or whatever.

Maybe Randy and his dad can come again too?

Only thing is, I'll be Mercedesless this go round....

Sounds good to me and my dad. I asked R Leo if he could come again, but he's busy this weekend. Now, we just wait for the others.
-Joe

P.S. Are you sure you won't need to call the park first and ask if we can use one of their grilles first? I guess I should ask are you going to use a standalone grille or a pavillion grille?

Joe, don't they have grilles at each little picnic table? If not then I need a grille because I am not going to carry mine in my car.

I think they have grilles at some tables. Just remember, bring some stuff to clean that grille first, I don't know about you, but park grilles make me a little wary. So what time do we begin, 6 or 7?
