Now THAT is what a GTG should be like. At the last Houston GTG we had, there were only 2 cars and three people, me, my dad and ridinsmooth. Maybe we'd have more people if we had it as a Texas/W. Louisiana GTG or maybe just a Texas GTG.

All in all, it was a decent turnout, we all had a good time.

Thanks to: thebenzbar (Silver 300TD), pwogaman (Burgundy 300SD), boneheaddoctor (W116 300SD), sodapop6620 (Burgundy 300D Euro), P.E.Haiges (Blue-Green 300SDL) and rockhopper (Light-Blue 300D) for making the trip. Also to some friends of mine that came up as well, Steve (White 300CD), Tom (Blue 300SDL) and Joey (Light-Blue 300CE). Last but not least the people that couldn't bee there all day saturday but left their cars with me for everyone to enjoy, Joe (Blue 300TD), Kevin (Cream 300SDL), Don (Green 240D), Tim (Silver 240D 'Frankenbenz'), Samson (Tan 300E) and J.P. (Grey 190E 2.6). The rest belong to you know who....

I enjoyed myself, and the company of the people who were there. Wish I had longer than the 4 hours I was there...the time goes so quick when you are having fun.

Yep! It was nice to see John & BHD again as well as meeting other fellow forumers. Made me realize more and more that my enthusiasm for these fine cars are also the passion of many others out there... It felt good driving back home (3 hours away!)... Next time - let's have a Grand GTG!!

Brian Carlton 07-31-2005 09:46 PM

Yep.......looks like you fellows had a fine time. Wish I could have made it, but 5 1/2 hours, each way would be a stretch for me.

Maybe next time..........

Yes...that hardly what you could consider a day trip........

I would like to see a large group meet sometime too. I guess we'd have to look into hotel reservations for something like that. Possibly be able to get a group rate on it though.

I went to the DMC meet in tennessee last summer (my band was the music entertainment for the weekend). 117 cars from all over the country came, but then again, they only do one every two years. I had the only Mercedes :D

You know this is very doable... I once helped organize/manage a car show for a MB Club...did the recruiting for sponsors, venue, etc... And a grand GTG isn't overly difficult as long as many will post their commitment here on the forum... I'm sure we all can someday (soon I hope). How about an entire eastern-US grand GTG?? hehehe...just brainstormin' :D

Sorry I couldn't make it. Working weekends really sucks.

Thanks to benz bar for the great pix.

And John, your new ride with the built in TV is a great piece.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks, John, for organizing the GTG. It was great to meet everyone who showed up.

Chris
