Houston Fall GTG in the works, not just limited to Houstonians though

We're working on the Houston Fall GTG. Probable date for meet is November 12, 2005. We're trying to get more people to come to our GTGs, so we're planning this thing well in advance. So, to the DFW'ers, Austinites, San Antonio crew, Beaumont/Golden Triangle area, western Louisiana people, Texas Gulf Coast guys, you're all invited. Instead of the usual meet in a parking lot and talk for an hour, we're thinking about involving food and a short cruise. There's nothing like a line of MBs going down a parkway. ;) Well, what do you say?

Well, anyone interested?

Ok, here's what we are looking at. We'll meet at a centralized Houston location such as Hermann Park or maybe a UH parking lot, and cruise down I-45 to Mario's Italian Restaurant on Seawall Blvd. near Stewart Beach in Galveston. Feedback?

H-town,
As you can tell from my sigs I drive fire breathing benzes.
They require high octane 93+. At $3.15(highest I paid so far) I'm not really inclined to blow off that kind of steam on a leisurely stroll down the boulevard. Mapquest puts the distance from U of H to UTMB Galveston at 50 miles X 2(we do have to come home) = 100miles.
That's and hour to Gveston + an hour back + $ to eat + $15 in gas(minimum)
Economically/time wise its not a good plan if you ask me. But for some of you oil burners...that might not be such a bad trip.
Now a nice sit down somewhere would be better for me. I figure rather than spend the $$ on gas and letting other see us, wouldn't the time be better spent sitting, meeting, greeting, laughing, and lying somewhere over a tall glass of suds.

Joe,
This is far enough in advance that I may just be able to get it on my calendar!! Now the question: Which ride to bring?

Me and Doug thought about that, he discussed letting someone ride with him possibly if they wanted to conserve gas, or we can shorten the cruise to Kemah.

Have you parted out that Euro 240D with SLS? If not, I'd love to see that.

Ultimately, it will be my daughter's college graduation gift this spring. So, I'm not exactly 'parting' that one....I do plan to pull the 5-speed and Euro lights and put them in my wagon. It will go back on the road with a 4-speed and SAE lights...unfortunately, I won't have time before the GTG to do any of this.
