You beat me! I have been messing around for a bit and didn't get online to respond. Lots of fun! One of the best yet! Jack and has family were simply awsome hosts! I just wish I didn't have to leave early. The rain really didn't affect us much. Jack has a sweet garage where we all hung out, lots of fun. Kyle was taking a bunch of pics, so they are coming.

Well, I didn't leave until nearly 6:00 and fought the rain all the way back. But, the traffic wasn't bad and returned home at 9:20.
I had a great time meeting all you fellows. The weather could have been better, but the garage and our fantastic host was perfect. Just want to thank Jack again for having us. |

Saturday GTG
My family and myself wish to thank one and all who attended the 2006 NE MB GTG. We had a wonderful time and met a lot of terrific people. New friendships were made, MB's worked on and tech advice abounded and the smell of veggie oil was in the air as well.
Brian Carlton was correct about the worlds best hamburgers. He cooked them to perfection then dove right into working on a few MB's. What's better than that? The sound of all those diesels pulling into the driveway was beautiful music to the ears. My count was 12 MB diesels in attendence. If I'm not mistaken our auto age group was 1976 to 1991 (Kyle being the oldest car and David the youngest). Our "furthest distance" participant was "Smooooth" (Steve) from Syracuse, NY. Cars began arriving around 10:15 AM and the last to leave was right around 5:30PM. Even though we had intermittent down pours, it didn't seem to interfer with the festivities. The garage provided ample room to gather and work on the vehicles. The rains were not long lasting in duration so there was plenty of time to view all the cars and discuss improvements, add ons, up grades and veggie conversions. It was our distince pleasure to have met one and all. As my children would say, "Simply put, a great bunch of down to earth car DUDES". I'll have additional pics posted as soon as I figure out how. Kyle is guiding me through the process. Best regards to one and all. We are looking forward to next year! Jack |

Oh
Forgot to say it was very enjoyable! Thanks so much to our gracious host for allowing us to use his lift, and host this event. Also, I'd love to thank has wife for the EXCELLENT dumplings.
Also I'd love to extend a thank you to Brian Carlton and all the other guys for their technical knowledge, and the excellent IP timing tool Brian brought by. The look under my W115 has motivated me to fix those worn bushings, even if its only one set at a time. Have to get this thing back up to 76 spec, even if it means some money. Food and water are overrated anyhow. All the guys (and gals) were genuinely nice people, and it was a pleasure putting a face to all the various names on here. I really enjoyed it, and hoped everyone else did too. Once again thanks to our gracious host Jack for this wonderful GTG.

Well, there's not much left to say. It was just a great time. Thanks a lot to Jack and family and all of you for all your ideas and advice. Maybe someday when you're really thirsty you'll remember how to use that newspaper .
Here are my pictures, nothing new, though, but I especially like that sign on the garage.

Great GTG!
Just wanted to put in my $.02 about how great the GTG was. Next time, we really need to take that drive through Newport, though (weather permitting). Particular thanks to our most gracious hosts.
I am trying to attach a JPEG image to this message, showing what was going on inside the IP when we were trying to time it.

The unit would work perfectly if the probe could go further into the IP by about 2 mm or so. I've got to look at the newer RIV lights and see if they differ slightly from this one. |

This was my first GTG.
A big thanks to the host Jack and family. The food was incredible! Something really nice about a group of people getting together with common interests. Bang --ouch stupid grill. Bang ouch --stupid grill. bang --ouch @#$$%# grill I learned that my poor designed hood that kept banging me in the head wasn't a poor design after all. The defect was mine! It turns out the hinge has a lever allowing the hood to be lifted all the way out of head banging range. Thanks guys! Brian --you left about 1/4 of a pint of your blood under my hood checking the timing! Your arms must look like you were in a cat fight and the cat won! Thanks!! Oh by the way i could'nt sleep last night worring about my timing being off them 3 degrees Just kidding Loved the interchange of info and i am looking forward to the next one. You guys are great. Kyle -- nice paint job sincerely--Steve 83 300D on vegetable oil |

I'm the one who can't sleep trying to figure out why the probe won't go in another 1.5 mm which would allow it to work perfectly............ |
