mid winter party (2007)

Hi Guy's

I was kicking an idea around with Hatteras Guy about having a mid winter party (end of Jan-mid Feb or right after the super bowl). The friends I have with Americal antique steel do this every year for the past 18 years. We have a couple of dozen guys and gals get together at someones house, make reservations at a local restaurant for lunch then head back to the host house for car videos, tech, racing videos, etc.

It breaks up the winter blues nicely. Something to chew on over the next few months.

Jack

Hmm

Sounds great to me, I'd love to see a Fall GTG as well maybe somewhere else when the weather is nice: The Cape maybe, or somewhere in Long Island? The Fast Ferry from point judith would get us RI guys there quick, and I believe there is ferry service somewhere in MA. LI in the fall must be pretty nice, maybe that'd be a good spot for a Fall GTG. How picturesque: a bunch of clattering diesels crusing through the Hamptons :D

Looked like a good time. Sorry I couldn't make it.

I see Brian brought some of his world famous burgers.

NICE garage!! Love the lift.

Who brought the Cougar? Didn't know we had a gasser amongst us.:D

Hopefully by the fall things will return to normal here so I can host another GTG.

Cheers,

Bill

I'd love to do another in late September early October before the weather gets bad. These are a lot of fun we should try to have at least 2-3 a year. Lets chew over the fall one in the next couple of months.

As for a winter one that sounds great Jack! Last winter was loooooong something to break it up would be nice.

I'll do my best to host the fall one. Weather is beautiful here in the early fall.

Cheers,

Bill

Sorry I didn't make the GTG.:( I have had sooo much going lately with moving and so on. Any how, no promises yet but I may be able to secure a site on the Cape for a spring GTG. There is this huge parking lot at the general store across the road. They make some good food in the deli there. It isn't very busy here then and if I asked nice enough I think we could use it. My place is small so it would be nothing like the summer gtg though. We could cruise into Provincetown and park at the pier or something, theres lots to do there. This is just something to toss around.........

Thanks Jack & Mariesol

Thank you for the invitation, the great food and the hospitality to me and my family. Everyone had a great time. :)

It is great to make some new friends that share similar interests. Guess this computer is good for something after all.

The plants that Mariesol gave to Debi are already in the ground and we had plenty of rain on Sunday to water them in.

I am already ready for the next GTG. I saw a couple of posts. How about the east end of Long Island? I am about 1/2 hour from the Orient Ferry.

Brian, Thanks for the world's greatest hamburgers. As a hamburger afficiendo, I really enjoyed it.

Sounds good! I am itching to get back to that beautiful corner of the world. Not to mention a little side trip to Gettysburg is always most enjoyable.

Great guy's

You guy's are the best! A fall meet in LI or Pa sounds fabulous, then a Winter party and right around the corner a Spring party. It doesn't get much better than that. Let's Rock & Roll:huepfenic :huepfenic

Kyle, it would be a lot of fun to hook up with the Northern NE guys and take the ferry from Point Judith to LI. A diesel cruise through the Hamptons is just what the doctor ordered. Maybe we could crash a party or two while we are in the neighborhood (LOL).

Hattie,
We'll see how things play out but I don't see why not.

If it rains the upstairs of my barn is now empty except for the tractor and a WVO project.:D

Cheers,

Bill

2007 Gtg

You guy's have me off the chart now with these great GTG plans. I was just over on the California site checking out their cruise when a thought hit me like a Mann diesel in high gear! Just an idea that may be a little out of the box but here goes. What if we were to have a summer GTG some where at a half way point between New England and California and make a weekend out of it?

I would be willing to wager a bunch of guys from other regions would join in the festivities. This could just be the beginnings of the largest MB GTG in the western hemisphere. My elder daughter suggested we take the cars to Stutgart. By comparison the mid west seems very reasonable!!:D ;) :dj:

Jack

Hatterasguy 06-26-2006 07:12 PM

It could happen. We would need to advertise through the MBCA.

I hate to put a damper on you fellows, but history shows that 250 miles is about the maximum that most folks will drive for a GTG.........some will limit it to much less.

Attempting a GTG that requires a drive of 1500 miles........and having it in Lincoln, NE..........isn't likely to happen in a big way.

Hatterasguy 06-26-2006 08:01 PM

Yep, unfortintly some of us have to work. Heck the NJ crowd won't even come north through the city!:D
