for the DFW convoy let's meet at the Carl's Jr on I-45 (and S.Beltline i believe, anyway it is the only one in DFW). It is difficult to miss and it is already halfway to certerville from Denton

Hmmmm......127 miles from Round Rock (N. of Austin) on Hwy 79.

Not a really bad trip....

I'll have to wait until it gets closer to the date, but I'd love to attend.

That'd be a great caravan trip too....

Good thing you've decided on a departure point. I'll go add it to the thread.

yep two exit south of that. exit 272 between wintergreen and pleasant run.
If you are at South beltline you already went too far.
If the DFW crowd prefers something more central it is ok. but i rather meet with the convoy already on the way out on I-45. and pretty much the carl's jr in Hutchins is the most recognizable landmarks in that part of nowhere TX.

Sounds good to me.
How about a meeting time. Give us a "Between___ and ___."
That way we'll know to keep going if we're running late, or how long folks will wait for others before they hit the road without them.

(If that makes sense...been a long and crazy day )

It might also be a good idea for those willing to exchange cell phone #'s. I guess we can do that via PM or email. Especially the # for whoever is going to be the lead dog.....

That is also a good meeting point, as many will be exiting I-20 to hit I-45.

Okay so it's near that new Whataburger. No sweat. The out there the gestapo tries to be sneaky at the overpasses in Hutchins. I just cruise on through and tell them they're number one.

I could take point but I drive slow. OR we could plug up the freeway on both lanes full of old MBs.

Slow is good, as we are bound to have a 240 or two with us. Wish I was one of them......
I think one lane of us will suffice.

LOL as yes, the 240D. I need to take a ride in one. Just wait, you and I know where to find one... it'll pop up eventually. There was a 300D manual I think a while back when it was cold.

If I take the SDL (which is probably) I better have a hoodpad on it by then! If not, the stripper 560 will be taken.

LOL - I figure I can squeeze 20mpg freeway out of it at 65mph.

It'll have the Euro duals for sure on it to help it breathe well and no emission junk. It's no 31 or 34mpg... but hey, it'll run to 60mph in probably six seconds flat.

It's funny, while you guys are gonna keep it low at 65, I think a few guys down here in Houston want to do a "left lane caravan" so the diesels can get a workout, so if we do that, the guy leading better have a V1 or Escort detector. Anyone remember when that whole caravan of Vettes got pulled over for speeding in some other state? That would be screwed up if it was a line of mostly old diesels being pulled over.

Talking '84 300 Sd

Jimmy, I'm pulling my Dad's '84 300 SD out of the Garage. He's ready to sell the '81 300D. I've got to go get it, get it over here to Austin and detail the car before I take it over to Centerville.
