Houston/DFW GTG 7/29/06

Well i see plenty of nice and big meetings in the sticky notes; one for the East coast and one for the west coast...

Well let's try to raise interested in a meeting midway; How about guys a meeting in DFW area or Houston? Would love to meet some fellow dieselheads.

Well, we have get togethers here in Houston, we try to have them on a regular basis. We're looking to have something in July, something perhaps a little different than what we've done in the past.

Carls' Corner

I understand that Willie is opening a bio-diesel plant in Carls Corner on 4 July. Buying up cottonseed oil from local farmers. Be a good place to buzz in for the day and celebrate.

Its north of pretty much everyone here but, my ranch is available if anyone wants to meet.
Come pick a part off my old W126 before she goes to the crusher.
Camp if you like.

I might even find some entertainment...

I'm in for a DFW meet. Waxahachie is fine, Tom Bean is fine, Ft. Worth is fine, etc.... I'm not so sure about Carls Corner. It's not the distance, it would just be better under someone's shade.

I'd like to try make it to one! Where the biggest MB junk/bone yard in Texas?? I'd bet it'll take a few weeks to organize, so we're headed into summer, so I second Jimmy L's idea....find some shade!!

If there was a combo Houston/DFW get together held in Centerville, would everyone in the area be willing to do the drive? I remind you, Centerville is the halfway point on I-45 between Houston and Dallas, so everyone would be driving comparable distances. There's a place to eat up there, as well as a park.

meeting spot

How about meeting in Austin? You could draw people from South Texas also.

I like the Centerville suggestion for a Houston/DFW meeting however it would be more interesting both touristically and probalby from an organizational point of view a city like Austin, or even better: College Station ("almost" midway from Austin, San antonio, Houston and DFW).

BTW: could a moderator move the Thread to a sticky note status?

College Station sounds reasonable; however, they sell some mean biodiesel in Austin.

They have some good BBQ in Centerville. There's a place up there called Woody's Smokehouse, they have two locations, one on each side of the freeway, we could get something to eat there, there's plenty of parking and seating. There's also a state park down on Highway 75 we could check out called Fort Boggy State Park, it's a few miles south of Centerville on 75, I'm sure there's plenty of space to park, take pics of the cars, and just look around.

unless southern texas people give an overwhelming response. Centerville is sounding attractive. How do you make a poll within the thread?
