That's a generous action there, thanks, I'm gonna be looking forward to that cold, icy bottle of water when we get to the hot park.

I'm driving my `88 560 SEL and am hoping I can get a new climate control
unit in it before we leave. If not, I'll bake.

Looks like I can come. My wife and I will be bringing the 190DT, I just put new shocks on it and it needs a road trip

Hitman, I'm looking forward to finally meeting you. We swapped a lot of stereo
ideas a while back.

I've got a new pushbutton unit arriving via UPS tomorrow so hopefully I'll have time to install it before I leave. Without it, the A/C works intermittently.

I'm also hoping it doesn't rain. Are there any plans for an alternate date if it does rain? Or is this even rain or shine?

Ah yes, glad your stereo turned out well. My SDL is boring with a stock Becker in there. Not much fun there. I wish the A/C was as simple as that in my SDL, no telling what's amiss in there.

Right now, there are no plans for an alternate date. The weather forecast looks good for Saturday, if there is rain, it'll just probably be a quick summer shower.

It rains in Texas in July? Around here, we are starting to forget what rain looks like. Triple digit temps are promised so we had better prepare for the heat and pray for rain.

another 300sdl coming

I'm coming up from Pflugerville, will rendezvous with the crew at the Dell Diamond.

Someone bring nametags

Just got my A/C fixed.. compressors ain't cheap. Luckily it was the only problem.. oh and the CCU.

Got some new Goodyear triple treads on there too.. they look pretty good - if only the wheels were in better condition.

[QUOTE=H-
Also, we will be giving out awards at the meet, which will be given out as follows:

Categories:
Traveled the furthest to get here (make sure to record your tripometer readings before you leave home for this)
Highest Mileage
Lowest Mileage
The Most Unique Model (euro models, customs, etc...)
Best 2000+ model MB
Best 1990s model MB
Best 1980s model MB
Best vintage MB (1979 and older)[/QUOTE]

Don't think we'll be winning any awards -- Ilse's not ready for prime time yet! The goats scarred the old paint job when they decided to dance on the hood (almost had cabrito over that one!), the odo still needs rehab and is about 15,000 miles shy of what it should read, the seats are waiting for $$ for reupholstery, etc.

We're looking forward to meeting everyone and putting faces with the names.

Blasted A/C

Well, I got my new CCU from The Benz Store in Atlanta. (Great price, btw $155 with 3-year warranty). It was a pretty straightforward install but, unfortunately, it didn't solve the problem and seemed to, somehow, introduce a new one.

I've had the compressor, condensor, blower motor, blower regulator and now the pushbutton unit replaced on the car. The a/c works only intermittently using the auto setting. It'll be blowing cold air while driving (or sitting still) and suddenly stop. When that happens, I'd feel cold air barely coming out of the vents as if the fan was barely on.

The only difference with the new unit seems to be when it goes out and you switch to low, it's a little stronger than it was before.

Unfortunately, something new has cropped up. Just as I was testing it out, with AC working, the car was suddenly runnning really rough. Looking under the hood, it looks like the pulley or whatever you call the part of the compressor the belt goes around is wobbling.

So I'm going to have to take her in and let the mechanic in Austin that installed the other a/c parts take a look at it. With this going on, I'd rather not drive her to Centerville tomorrow. I could come in the Z3 but that would be the wrong German car to bring to a Mercedes rally. I'll have to catch you guys next time.

Bummer.

Bill
