Ok, people in the SoCal area, I will be sending out messages tommorow with the guy who is organizing the caravan. We have two from San Diego and several more along the way. I'm not sure how it is going to work, but it will

Anyone in the SF Bay area want to drive down? We can meet in Gilroy or something along the 101. If you want to, let me know. My brother will not be joining us due to a job, so I'll be driving the turbo.

The southern california caravan:

Anyone who is interested in a convoy up to Pismo check in here. We should meet at the Denny's in Woodland Hills right off of the 101 about 5 miles north from where the 405 and 101 intersect. It should be easy to find and it has a physical address we can all MapQuest to assure there is no confusion.

20137 Ventura Blvd
Woodland Hills, CA 91364-2545, US

From that rendezvous point the estimated time is 3 hours, 37 minutes Distance: 211.79 miles

If we are to be in Pismo by 10:30am then the rendezvous should occur no later than let's say 6:30am at the Denny's in Woodland Hills (allowing for plus or minus traffic etc). (times may change)

I believe the count is 14 right now. The caravan up north will probably be between 5 and 10. I suppose it all depends. If the times change I'll post it here as soon as I know.

Just got Back.....

I met everyone in Pismo Beach this morning and at my first glance I said to myself..... "Man I am old enough to be these guys DAD!" What a great bunch of people these guys turned out to be. We had 8 cars counting my '55 BUG. Glad I didn't bring my 240D Automatic!!! My '55 Bug has a built up motor.... I needed it!! These guys cars lit up the pavement! We had 5 turbo sedans, 1- '78 300CD non turbo, A beautiful, ALL black '99 E300D and my little '55 bug. Nice to see that out of 7 diesels, two were running bio diesel. We hit it from Pismo Beach and headed NORTH past Morro Bay to Cayucos on HWY 1. We turned up Old Creek Road and got on our cars through the twisties for the next 7 miles. We got to Hwy 46 west and everyone agreed that it was fun enough to do a U turn and go back the way we came. We ended up in Morro Bay at the Morro Rock for pictures of our cars.
THANKS everyone for letting me be a part of the cruise. I didn't feel so old after all. Chris

Hey Chris you really helped us out, and taught us a bit about UPS . Your bug was perfect and kept up, and blew us away at that. I think everyone had a good time, as I know I did, I just got a little sunburnt. After everyone left, we had 2 cars left and 5 guys and we went down and ate on the embarcadero in Morrow Bay. We drove up Old Creek again before heading north on the 101. It was definately a fun day. Thanks again to everyone who showed up, and for those that didn't, we look forward to seeing you next time, probably late August or September. We are thinking of renting some ATV's for the day in Pismo. I'll have my pictures up here later

Zack, Nice pics of our cars!! I got sunburned too.... even in the fog. Remember the BAT for easing your front wheel wells. Chris

A few more shots:

Even though this shot isn't that great, it was pretty cool because Ashwin stepped on it and a ton of soot blew out and he actually spun his tires. Also the w123's in the background make it nice

If anyone would like higher resolution of any of these pictures, just let me know which one(s) and I'll send you an email with the full file size, or however you would like it resized.

Congrats on your GTG

Hi guy's congtrats on your cruise. The location looks terrific. I love the restored bug. Our New England cruise was pretty wet but it worked out well.

I had a thought, may sound a bit out there but here goes. What if the New England Guy's and the California Guys planed a GTG somewhere at a half way point for next summer and make a weekend out if it?

If you go to the NE 2006 group you will see we are planing a fall, winter and spring GTG out here. How about tossing some ideas around? I'll be we could get a lot of guys from other regions to join in.

One central meet would be pretty coo. I could make it a senior road trip with some of my friends. I think we to are going to try and hold 3-4 a year. We've had 2 so far this year and we will probably begin planning a late august, early september meet soon.

I'll mention the idea of one big meet. If not this next summer, sometime in the next few years. I'd love to see the country in my car.
